Most laminate doors give themselves away by feel rather than by sight. The CNC Cabinetry Oxford Silver O18 is built the other way, a PVC laminate with a deep texture pressed into the face, over a five piece shaker door carrying a three inch solid wood rail. HM Cabinetry keeps the Oxford Silver O18 door at the East Brunswick showroom, because this is a finish you have to run a hand across to judge.

The three inch solid wood rail is what separates this from a wrapped MDF door, because there is real stock behind the laminate at the edges where a door takes knocks. The CNC Cabinetry Oxford Silver O18 pairs that with a frameless box, so the opening runs the full width of the cabinet instead of being narrowed by a face frame across the front.
• Full overlay PVC laminate door in five piece shaker construction
• 3 inch solid wood rail behind the laminate face
• Deep textured finish that reads as real wood grain
• Frameless full access box, with the opening at full cabinet width
• 1/4 inch back panel with 3/4 by 4 inch supporting braces top and bottom
• Glued and clamped wood dowel joinery through the box
• 3/4 inch plywood end panels built the same way
• 3/4 inch full depth plywood shelves, fully adjustable
• Heavy duty concealed steel hinges, six way adjustable with soft close
• 3/4 inch double wall metal drawer with a wood bottom and soft close

Silver is a cool gray, and a cool gray with texture behaves differently from a smooth one. The grain pattern breaks up reflections, so the doors do not hold every fingerprint around the handle the way flat gray laminate does, and the surface keeps some depth under flat ceiling lighting. HM Cabinetry puts Oxford Silver O18 into Middlesex and Monmouth county kitchens that take heavy daily use, where nobody wants to be wiping doors twice a week.
Frameless changes the numbers more than it changes the look. With no face frame across the front, a 24 inch base gives close to the full 24 inches of opening, which means a wider drawer box and a sheet pan that fits without being turned. Hinges mount straight to the side panel and the six way adjustment is still there when a door drifts. The box itself is joined with wood dowels glued and clamped under pressure rather than stapled, with three quarter by four inch braces running across the top and bottom of the back. Our team draws the run in 3D so the wider openings get used where they help.
Texture is the part that photographs badly and shows well in person. HM Cabinetry keeps a full size Oxford Silver O18 door on the showroom floor rather than a chip, sets the six way hinges after the first heating season, and orders replacements from the same laminate batch so the gray tone and the grain direction both match.
