Gloss on a dark color is a different product from gloss on a white one. The CNC Cabinetry Milano Slate M15 is the same MDF slab and the same wrapped high gloss finish as the white, but in a mid to dark gray the reflection reads much harder, closer to glass than to a bright surface. HM Cabinetry keeps the Milano Slate M15 door at the East Brunswick showroom so you can judge that before committing to a full run.

Slate carries enough depth that the gloss sitting on top of it behaves like glass. The CNC Cabinetry Milano Slate M15 is an MDF slab wrapped in thermofoil with no frame, center stile or rail breaking the surface, which is what lets a dark gloss run read as one continuous plane. The cabinet behind it is frameless and dowel built, with full depth adjustable plywood shelves.

• Heavy duty steel concealed hinges, six way adjustable with soft close
• 3/4 inch double wall metal drawer with a wood bottom and soft close

A dark gloss run needs two things to work, a light counter and a lighting plan that does not sit directly overhead. Slate against a white quartz gives the contrast the eye needs, and light angled down the face rather than straight at it keeps the reflection from turning into glare at the sink. HM Cabinetry walks through both before writing a Milano Slate M15 order, since those two decisions do more for the finished room than the door choice itself.
Hardware changes this door more than it changes any other. Push to open keeps the slate surface unbroken, which is the whole point of a gloss slab, but it also means hands land on the door face and a dark gloss holds marks longer than a white one. A long bar pull in brushed stainless answers that and breaks the reflection into sections, which some people prefer anyway. Under the front, the box is frameless with glued and clamped dowel joinery, a braced quarter inch back, full depth adjustable plywood shelves, and double wall metal drawers with wood bottoms.
Dark gloss is the finish that rewards a routine. A microfiber cloth kept in the drawer under the sink holds the Milano Slate M15 doors at the level they started, and HM Cabinetry sets the six way hinges after the first heating season and orders replacements from the same run so the gray and the gloss level both match.
